It's Oziversary Time at Magic of Oz!

The seasons are changing once again on Oz as we welcome Autumn to our Emerald lands, and with the arrival of the falling leaves we also have exciting news. Magic of Oz is two years old! Starting Friday, November 12 and running through Sunday, November 21, we will be enjoying over a week of festive activities including the Over the Rainbow Hunt, the 2nd Oziversary: Oz Revisited Photo Contest and a Fancy Dress Gala Ball so big it will spill over two magical days!

The Over the Rainbow Hunt starts at 1pm SLT on Friday, November 12. There is nothing else in Second Life that can quite compare to the flair and excitement that is encapsulated in a Magic of Oz hunt. With prizes from 19 merchants across two sims, this hunt promises to be a must do event! For the Over the Rainbow Hunt you will be collecting Magic Pearls as they rez across the Magic of Oz and Ozimals sims in order to procure Bluebirds that will allow you to gain gifts from the Rainbows located in each participating store.

Once you have finished the Over the Rainbow Hunt and thoroughly explored both sims in search of hidden Magic Pearls you will be in the perfect frame of mind to enter the 2nd Oziversary: Oz Revisited Photo Contest where you have the chance to show us Oz through your eyes. What favorite memories do you have of Oz during the past two years? Take a picture and share your stories with us. Both the Over the Rainbow Hunt and the 2nd Oziversary: Oz Revisited Photo Contest will run from November 12 - November 21.

To finish out the week of Oziversary celebrations we will be having not one, but two fancy dress balls, so no matter where you are in the world, you will hopefully be able to join us in celebrating another year of Magic of Oz in Second Life. On Saturday, November 20 from 5-7 pm SLT and on Sunday, November 21 from 11-1 pm SLT, we will be dancing up a storm to the musical stylings of DJ Sierra Sugar as we dream of the adventures we will have in Oz during the next year! Visions of Oz Flickr Contest

Haven't you always wanted to fly over the rainbow and have the pictures to prove you were there? Now's your chance! Enter the Visions of Oz Flickr contest and document all those amazing adventures you can have every day at the Magic of Oz sim. Running now through October 18, 2009 as part of the One year Oziversary Celebrations. Read below for complete details!

The Visions of Oz Flickr Competition is brought to you by the Magic of Oz sim.

Conditions of Entry:

1. You must purchase & feature at least one product available from the Magic of Oz sim merchants. *** Use of the demo items will not be accepted***

2. You must take the picture at the Magic of Oz sim and it must be obvious that this is where you took the picture. The picture can be taken anywhere on the Magic of Oz sim so explore and find the spot that speaks to you. :)

3. You must be a member of the Magic of Oz Flickr group ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/magicofoz/ ).

4. Entrants are limited to a maximum of two entries. Only one picture from any one resident can win a place (i.e. 1st or 2nd prize).

5. By entering this competition you agree to your pictures being used in future by the owners of the Magic of Oz sim for any promotional purposes and to the picture/s being on display in world after the competition.

6. Pictures must be uploaded to the Magic of Oz Flickr group ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/magicofoz/) and contain the following information: your complete name (Second Life name that is), the product or products belonging to Oz merchants in the picture, and the part of the sim you took the picture at.

7. Entries uploaded after Midnight SLT time on the 18th of October, 2009 will not be entered in the contest.

*** There are TWO categories, but you may enter only one of them, so choose carefully:

**Category 1: Photographic.

This category is for those who do not wish to or do not use image editing software such as Photoshop, Gimp or Paintshop etc. This category is there for those who rely solely on in world lighting, set, costume, shot perspective etc.

You may however crop your picture but that is the extent of any photo manipulation. Those entering this category who are found to have not kept by these simple and clear guide lines will be disqualified.

Photographic Category Prizes:
1st Prize: Ozimals breeder pack
2nd Prize: Dorothy Dress from Katat0nik

** Category 2: Post Processing.

This category is for those who wish to use such image editing software as Gimp, Photoshop or Paintshop etc. Basically the rules here are "if we can still make out that you are at Oz and have a product from an Oz merchant, you're good to go." Although of course, less can be more.
